I thought I'd try something different this week to help you organize. I will give you your assignments day by day. That way you will know exactly what to enter into your written planner, and then you will be able to check each assignment off as you do it. Let me know if this works better for you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday:
Bible: Please begin working on lesson three in Christian Manhood and don't forget to keep up with your New Testament reading and mark it in your planner.
English: complete and submit the rough draft for the descriptive paragraph at Time4Writing. Also, do assignments 6.1-6.3. Peek at the next writing assignment (6.4), but do not begin it.
Math: Continue to work through the quizzes on the AMT site. We only have the subscription until the 23rd, so if you plan to take all of the quizzes for the first two levels, you will need to work consistently. Do math drills on the site each day.
Art: Color your drawing from last week and get it to me by noon. It is due to the Harmony Art Mom site today if we want it to be included in the next slide show. Make sure it shows your name (Tex), the date, and the title (Batteries are Included!).
Bookmobile: Make sure all of the books you read are on your list in your planner and in the return pile.
Science: Do an assignment in the Critical Thinking Skills book.
Handwriting/Typing: Since we need to start reviewing Hey Andrew, Teach me Some Greek! and it includes copying the Greek letters, you can do the first lesson in that book for your handwriting today.
Reading: Biography of the week: 21 Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible
Elective: Watch the new Clash of the Titans with me tonight so you can compare and contrast it with the old one you watched over the weekend. You can work on the compare/contrast essay later in the week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday:
Bible: Please continue to work on Lesson Three. Discuss it with your Dad when he gets home.
English: Check and see if your assignment was graded. Finish the Descriptive paragraph and submit it. Do the next three assignments (7.1-7.3).
Math: Continue working on your AMT quizzes. I'd appreciate if you'd post a comment about what quizzes you take each day. Do your drills.
Nature Study Tuesday: Help me make a post for the pictures we took of the bugs on our pear trees a few days ago.
Bookmobile-Rescheduled for today. Your friends will be over for much of the day, and Mrs. Lisa and I will be canning, so I will keep your schedule light.
Reading: Historical novel of the week: A Gathering of Days
Electives: Work on this week's Lego Challenge with the Ward boys AND work with Lily while they are here. Help me get Jake ready so J. can ride.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wednesday:
Bible: Begin working on Lesson 4.
English: Do assignment 7.4 and take the 7.5 quiz. Check out the assignment for 7.6. You are to compare and contrast your mom, dad, or family to a TV or movie mom, dad, or family. Think about it and be nice! You might want to make an inital outline. I do NOT want to be compared to the Munsters or the Addams family! lol.
Math: Continue with AMT quizzes and lessons. Drills. Update me.
Science: Do an assignment in the Creation Science book.
Handwriting/Typing: Do a typing drill. Twenty minutes minimum.
Reading: Your dad would like you to read The Princess Bride for fun this week. This book should be read after the others are finished, or at least after 8 pm at night.
History: Watch last week's Linwood Thompson video and complete the worksheet. File it in your history notebook.
Art: Check out Harmony Art Mom's art assignment for the week and see if your picture made the slideshow from last week. Your picture this week is due by FRIDAY, not Monday. In color. Labeled.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday:
Bible: Continue working on Lesson 4.
English: Work on the compare/contrast essay. You must have a complete rough draft by the end of the day. Once the rough draft is done, I will discuss it with you and you can submit it.
Math: Drills and quizzes. How far have you gotten with the quizzes? Will you be able to finish them up by tomorrow (Basic Math and Advanced Math?) In the comments section, please make a note of any areas that you need to review, so we can take this into consideration when making the assignments for next week.
Reading: Please write the titles of all the books you have been reading this week into your planner. Use this time to catch up your planner, as well.
Science: Do a nature notebook entry. Walk the yard and try to find something for next week's Nature Study Tuesday. Photograph it, then draw it, look it up, etc.
History: Watch the next Linwood Thompson video with the kids.
Handwriting/Typing: Do another assignment in Hey Andrew!
Elective: Work with Lily today. Halter her, brush her, do her feet, make her walk and stand politely. Minimum half an hour. Let her graze a bit, too. Maybe a pear or two for a treat.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday:
Bible: Catch up on any of your NT reading that you may have missed. Make sure that both Lesson 3 and Lesson 4 are completed. Find me to look over and discuss these lessons before you move onto anything else.
English: Letter Writing: I'd like you to get a postcard or notecard from me and write a chatty message to Grandma Jensen. She will be excited to hear from you. Address, stamp, and mail it immediately.
Math: Do the final test for Advanced Math. It will take a while. Find somewhere quiet. Show me your grade when you are done.
Science: Do another lesson out of the Creation Science book.
Handwriting/Typing: Do a minimum of twenty minutes of typing drills.
Reading: Make sure your two REQUIRED books are finished. Update your planner. No games or TV this weeked until those two books are done.
History: Read the Three Amigos the Teddy Roosevelt biography, Teedie. Watch the video on Mount Rushmore with the kids. Show them where it is on the USA puzzle AFTER you help them do the puzzle. Then get out the play-doh and sculpt the individual you would add to Mount Rushmore if you were given the opportunity. Have fun...it's FRIDAY!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope this method of mapping out your week helps you. Please let me know. I am excited to see your filled in and checked off planner at the end of the week. If you do all of this stuff, you will have accomplished quite a lot...you can be proud of all the hard work you do (and I appreciate all the help you give to everyone in the family, too).
Love you,
Mom
